You can eat the bread and then sit back and enjoy the taste of the spices.
It has all the spices and a little bit of cinnamon in it.
You’re welcome to add some fresh basil, too.
But the one thing that makes this bread irresistible is the cinnamon itself.
I like it because it’s so simple, and it’s a great snack.

Ingredients 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature 3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 1/3 cups whole-wheat flour 1 cup buttermilk 1/8 cup unsalted sugar 1/10 cup unsweetened shredded coconut 1/5 cup brown sugar 1 egg, lightly beaten 1/1 cup water 1/6 cup fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon cinnamon 1/7 teaspoon ground ginger, or 2-3 teaspoons ground allspice 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon Directions Combine butter and flour in a large bowl and stir in sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Whisk until well combined.
Add the remaining ingredients and whisk until well blended.
Shape into a log and cut into cubes with a knife.
Store in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Notes Make the Cinnamon bread sandwich by cutting the loaf into strips and flattening with a rolling pin, then spreading the dough out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, until lightly browned.
